Fredric C. “Fred” Hoehne, age 64, died on Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at the Columbus Community Hospital. He was born on January 6, 1945 in Columbus to Reubin and Madeline (Dauffenbach) Hoehne. He was a 1964 graduate of the Columbus High School. Fred was married to Janet Cook on August 28, 1989. He was employed by the City of Columbus Public Works Department for 36 years, retiring in 2008. He also worked for Tom Borchert, hauling sand and gravel for many years. Fred was a long-time member of the Columbus Fire Department where he formerly served as the assistant Fire Chief. Fred was fun-loving and always there to help others. He loved his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Janet of Columbus; one son, Eric (Laurel) Hoehne of Germantown; four daughters, Eve (Ted) Dressel of Dayton, OH, Debra Brace of DePere, Binky (Jeff) Leto and Claudine (Dale) Abegglen both of Fall River; six grandchildren, Nicole, Damon, Jessica, Nicholas, Marissa, Ethan; his best buddy, Tom Borchert; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Kenneth. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 7, 2009 at FAITH LUTHERAN CHURCH in Columbus. Pastor Robert V. Moberg will officiate. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Columbus. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Friday at the funeral home, and from 2:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. on Saturday at the church. Memorials may be made to the family.
